Sölden boasts unlimited skiing fun until the beginning of May
A snow depth of almost 425 cm in the Sölden Glacier Ski Area encourages avid winter sports enthusiasts to take out their equipment again until 01 May before the summer break will start. Thousands of visitors were also impressed by the perfect slope conditions at events such as Hannibal, the 10th anniversary of the Electric Mountain Festival and the art exhibition by Austrian design icon Stefan Sagmeister.
Even at the very end of the season, Sölden more than lives up to its reputation as “Heartbeat of the Alps”. The slopes on Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers are open until 01 May and promise plenty of “April powder” until then. The snow report provided by Bergbahnen Sölden mountain lift company currently shows an impressive snow depth of 4.25 m. A truly ideal basis not only for the Ski Finish, but also for the start of the Alpine Ski World Cup held in autumn. On 26 + 27 October, the international skiing professionals will once again compete on the steep race slope of Rettenbach Glacier.
Varied finale
Again this year, some 6,000 spectators did not miss “Hannibal” - the glacier spectacle. The contemporary production of the legendary Carthaginian general's crossing of the Alps with hundreds of actors as well as impressive music and light effects attracted an enthusiastic audience to upper Ötztal. The exhibition “Besser und besser/Better and better” by design icon Stefan Sagmeister in Austria's highest two-toque awarded restaurant, ice Q, gave cause for great optimism. Sölden met the tastes of the music-loving community for entire five days at the Electric Mountain Festival. International top acts such as John Newman, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and German rap star Ski Aggu attracted 22,000 electronic music lovers to Sölden. The comeback of the iconic “Champ of the Lake” waterslide contest has been postponed to the weekend of 11 to 13 April 2025 due to the enormous amounts of fresh snow on the glacier. What’s best: all participants have an entire year to prepare and compete for rich prize money in the best shape.
Hit the bike lines in June
From 07 June onwards, the mountain lifts will be in summer operation again. The Bike Republic Sölden will kick off the new season with a whole Bike Opening weekend. Another highlight of the season is the premiere of BYND The Mountain taking place from 13 to 15 September 2024, comprising top-class shows performed by top stars and a varied side & entertainment program.
