Ovako is launching the podcast "Stålverket" with the aim of increasing interest in career opportunities within the steel industry and showcasing the dynamic and innovative environment at the company.

Stålverket will offer listeners insights into what it’s like to work at high-tech steel plants and highlight the advantages of living and working in smaller towns in Sweden.

The titles of the first episodes, such as "9 Hot Jobs in Steel Right Now!" and "Move to Hofors – What?", give a glimpse of what listeners can expect. The podcast will explore a range of topics, from sustainability issues like how the steel industry can reduce its carbon emissions by using hydrogen, to personal stories from young engineers who have chosen to leave the big city to live closer to their workplaces.

Each episode combines interviews with Ovako’s experts and employees with reports directly from the steel plant. Exciting facts about steel as a material will also be highlighted, including how steel is used in some of society’s most common products.

Strong interest in the podcast format among the target audience
Podcast listening has grown significantly in Sweden, and it is a medium well-suited for Ovako’s target audience – particularly engineers and tech-savvy young adults. Through Stålverket, Ovako hopes to reach this audience in an engaging way and demonstrate why the steel industry is an industry of the future.

Collaboration with Splay One
Ovako has developed the podcast in collaboration with Splay One, who are assisting with production and marketing. Stålverket will be launched on all major podcast platforms and promoted through social media channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
