Peppol launches a ViDA Pilot

Report this content

Peppol is launching a ViDA pilot to demonstrate how the 5-corner model leveraging Peppol specifications can facilitate the requirements outlined in the VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) proposal by the EU Commission. It will involve the participation of tax administrations, service providers and business users across Europe.

This pilot will be a natural continuation and expansion of a series of ViDA pilots undertaken by the Nordic Smart Government & Business (NSGB) together with the tax administrations of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, as well as some service providers.

Peppol ViDA Pilot key aspects

  • Peppol network will be used to support ViDA requirements for e-invoicing;

  • Focuses on B2B, B2G intra-community and domestic e-invoicing and DRR;

  • Creation and documentation of relevant use cases, along with a comprehensive e-invoicing and DRR architecture based on the Peppol 5-corner model

  • Creation of Peppol specifications for sales and purchase invoice reports under DRR, including two sub-types for sales and three for purchases, along with the corresponding Schematrons.

  • Creation of a technical environment to enable pilot registration and facilitate the exchange of business documents, including invoices, through test cases.

Timelines

  • 2024 H2: Develop project plan, recruit participants, and gather requirements;

  • 2025 H1: Complete initial design of the DRR architecture and artefacts;

  • 2025 H2: Execute testing of new architecture and artefacts with participating tax administrations, service providers and businesses.

Pagero’s involvement in the pilot

Pagero successfully completed both ViDA pilots conducted under the Nordic Smart Government & Businesses initiative in autumn 2023 and spring 2024, which laid the necessary initial foundations to adapt our solution to enable businesses’ quick adoption of ViDA requirements.

Pagero is an active member and contributor to the Peppol ViDA pilot. We intend to work closely with the project members to develop the necessary architecture, specifications and execute the tests.

Time for businesses to start preparing for ViDA

ViDA marks a significant milestone in the digitalization of the European Union, not least from the tax perspective. Even though ViDA has not yet been approved at this stage, active work by all Member States is being undertaken – the tax administrations are preparing themselves. Therefore, businesses should start preparing sooner rather than later. ViDA is a question of when and how, not if.

If you want to stay at the forefront of the developments or even stay ahead of them, reach out to Pagero today.
