Stars From The Commitments to perform at Conkers

Moira, nr.Swadlincote, South Derbyshire – On the 29th of August, 2010, Conkers, in the National Forest, will see The Stars From The Commitments, perform an outstanding and highly-acclaimed live soul show. Described by soul legend Wilson Pickett as “the guys that are keeping soul music alive”, the show features all the classic hits from the movie plus many more all-time soul classics. The band, derived from the award-winning Alan Parker movie ‘The Commitments’, includes original cast members from the film, and features Kenneth McCluskey on guitar who played Derek ‘The Meatman’ Scully, and Dick Massey on drums, aka Billy ‘The Animal’ Mooney. In support is Joe ‘The Moose’ Walsh on lead and backing vocals, Claire Malone and Adriana Vasques on lead and backing vocals, Abraham Hampton on keyboards, Eric Okafo on bass, Alex Mathias on tenor saxophone and Stefano Muscovi on trumpet. Hit songs from the film, such as Try A Little Tenderness, In The Midnight Hour, Mustang Sally, Nowhere To Run, Destination Anywhere and Dark End Of The Street, are amongst many, and ensure this act will provide an evening filled with authentic soul and entertainment. The Stars From The Commitments are dubbed as the ‘Saviours Of Soul’ and have performed over 1,500 shows to over six million people worldwide, attracting much acclaim along the way. Dan Aykroyd, from The Blues Brothers was quoted saying that “The Stars From The Commitments are the best soul review I have ever seen or heard”, while soul legend Wilson Pickett has described the band as “the guys that are keeping soul music alive”.
