Adaptive multi-layer welding: Lointek orders modern PEMA Assembly and Welding station
Pemamek has delivered a modern PEMA Assembly station to Lointek. The Spanish Lointek, located in the Biscay, is specialized in engineering and supplying of structures for the process and energy industries. Globally operating Lointek manufactures mainly tubular products, such as pressure vessels, reactors, and columns.
The delivery includes PEMA Assembly line TW5000-100, PEMA A100 Roller beds, and PEMA HD 6x5 Column & Boom. The Column & Boom is equipped with PEMA WeldControl 500 that has laser-tracking and special welding head designed for semi-narrow grooves (SNG). The control system together with laser-tracking facilitates automated multi-layer welding, whereas SNG welding head, which has recently developed tilting function, enables efficient welding in narrow grooves.
By investing in the PEMA Assembly station, Lointek increases the welding capacity of thick materials but also automates the SAW welding process. As the manufactured structures in the pressure vessel industry are rarely completely identical, one of the requirements for the welding solution was the capability to adapt to gap variations.
Alexander Martin, Production Manager, Lointek comments: “The tubular structures that we manufacture have similar characteristics, yet they are not repeatable. Therefore, we started to consider welding automation as a solution to optimize our production. The modern assembly technology together with the adaptivity significantly boosts our manufacturing productivity and improves quality.”
The PEMA Assembly station is designed for heavy structures. The station can process a tubular that has a maximum diameter of 5 m, is up to 100 tons and 30 meters.
“We are glad to support a global key player in the process and energy industry. The PEMA Assembly line together with its advanced features, such as adaptivity, enables Lointek to take a massive leap in productivity,” summarizes Peter Senz, Pemamek sales partner, Spain.
In addition to the machinery, the agreement includes training, production start-up support, preventive maintenance package, and local service support with authorized PEMA service partners.
