Ponsse Plc and Sotreq S.A. have signed a cooperation agreement on the sale, service and marketing of PONSSE harvester heads in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

“Minas Gerais is a key forestry area in Brazil, and we want to offer better services to our customers operating in the area. This cooperation supports our objective of being a strong player in Brazil’s harvester head market,” says Ponsse Plc’s Group Sales and Marketing Director Jarmo Vidgrén.

Sotreq S.A’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Marcelo Orberg says Ponsse and Sotreq share common goals in Minas Gerais.
“We have been serving forestry customers in MG for over 75 years with tracked forest machines, now with the Ponsse product line we have a complete portfolio of forestry solutions to offer our customers. We are very excited to offer Ponsse’s forestry products in Brazil, Ponsse’s long history of developing forestry products is second to none and coupled with Sotreq’s after-sales support will be an industry-changing partnership,” says Orberg.

Sotreq has a total of four service centres in the Minas Gerais region. In addition to being a harvesting equipment dealer, the conglomerate also operates in the fields of construction, mining, energy, Oil & Gas and materials handling. Founded in 1941, the family-owned business has its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The company has 4.345 staff in 40 locations around Brazil.

Ponsse’s Brazilian subsidiary, Ponsse Latin America, was founded in 2005. In addition to Sotreq, Ponsse also has another dealer, Timber Forest Equipamentos, in Brazil, responsible for PONSSE services in the three southernmost states, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
