Ponsse wins large-volume orders from Latin America
Ponsse has agreed to deliver a total of 67 cut-to-length method forest machines
and 44 harvester heads to Brazil and Uruguay. The deal concerns PONSSE forest
machines and harvester heads as well as services relating to the use of the
products. The products will be delivered to Brazil's Bahia Pulp and Uruguayan
wood harvesting contractors.
The PONSSE harvester heads will be manufactured at Ponsse's Mogi das Cruzes
factory in Brazil and the PONSSE harvesters and forwarders at Ponsse's Vieremä
factory in Finland. The contracts also include training a significant number of
people to become forest machine operators as well as technical support and
maintenance personnel.
“The demand for cut-to-length method forest machines is growing. We will
continue the development of our sales and maintenance service network in Latin
America as well, which is one of the key growth areas of our business. We want
to operate close to our customers and are committed to offering them
comprehensive solutions. In this way, the customer gets the forest machines that
fit their needs and lifetime support for these machines,” says Arto Tiitinen,
President and CEO of Ponsse Oyj.
Ponsse's Brazilian subsidiary Ponsse Latin America Ltda was established in 2005
and operates in Mogi das Cruzes near Sao Paulo. The Mogi das Cruzes plant
focuses on the assembly of harvester heads specially developed for harvesting
eucalyptus. The plant also includes a research and development centre and
maintenance and training services operations. The latest addition to our Latin
American network was the establishment of Ponsse Uruguay in Uruguay.
