For some time, marketers have used the practice of reputation management to help them enhance a product or service brand. Now it seems those involved in shaping an employer brand are set to benefit from the same kind of capabilities thanks to a newly formed consultancy. The Employer Reputation Company (TERC) is the brainchild of Simon Thomas – an individual who made his name helping to mould employer brands for the likes of Bupa and Greggs the Bakers. The former director of two of the best known HR communications agencies in the country, TCS and SMRS, created The Employer Reputation Company as part of his desire to show that employer branding has yet to reach its full potential. Commenting on the firm’s launch, he said: “Half of the battle to recruit or retain the best talent begins in the mind. If someone has a perception of you as an employer - good, bad or indifferent - it can greatly help or hinder your ability to communicate and engage with them. He continues: “For some employers the notion of reputation management is still blue sky thinking. For others, it’s increasingly becoming a reality. The Employer Reputation Company’s knowledge of how best to employ the marketing mix and its specific understanding of the challenges faced in the HR arena are already being employed by some major names both here in the UK and further afield.” ENDS Images: Simon Thomas.jpeg Caption: Building reputations.
