Builders Care celebrates $2 Million by honoring volunteers

Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), recently honored several building partners and volunteers in recognition of their service and commitment to Southwest Florida’s elderly and individuals with disabilities and their families. 

Builders Care completed more than $2 million in construction services in November 2012 and celebrated the milestone by recognizing their building partners and volunteers.

The 2012 Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Builders Care Board member Jimmy Rodgers of West Coast Structural Concrete & Masonry for his outstanding volunteerism on the job sites of projects involving wheelchair ramps. The 2012 Sub-Contractor Partner of the Year was awarded to T&M Portable Restrooms for their on-going contributions on all construction sites and fundraising events. Ferguson Enterprises was recognized as Outstanding Partner of the Year for their management of golf tournaments and other fundraising efforts for Builders Care. Stock Development was honored with the prestigious Certified Builder Partner of the Year award for extraordinary efforts on behalf of Builders Care and the community through their annual partnership of donating $100 per home sale in their PASEO community and the recent completion of a new home for a Builders Care recipient valued at $175,000.  President and board member Butch Ritter, president of Cape Coral Plumbing, received the prestigious Hearts & Hammers Award for his continued leadership and commitment to Builders Care.

Builders Care board members were also recognized for their commitment to the building industry, the community and the mission of Builders Care.

“We are so blessed to have the hands-on support of so many individuals and companies,” said Heidi Taulman, executive director, of Lee BIA Builders Care. “We simply could not do it without their continued support.”

Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA). Its objective is to provide emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means. Builders Care enlists the volunteer services of Lee BIA members and leverages grants and donated materials to provide construction and remodeling services to qualified homeowners throughout LeeCounty. Builders Care is headquartered at the Lee BIA offices at 10501 Six Mile Cypress Pkwy., Suite 104 in Fort Myers.
