Lee BIA Builders Care to be honored by Florida Senate leadership
The Majority Leader of the Florida Senate, Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto, will recognize Lee Building Industry Association’s Builders Care program for their service in the community at the Annual Regional Luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at the Plantation Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers. Senator Benacquisto represents Florida Senate District 30 which includes parts of Lee and Charlotte counties. The Annual Luncheon is hosted by Senator Benacquisto and features the President of the Florida Senate, Senator Don Gaetz as this year’s speaker. This event is held just prior to the opening of the annual session of the Florida Legislature.
Each year a local organization and individual and are recognized for their extraordinary efforts to the community. In addition to Builders Care, Senator Benacquisto will honor Michael Reitmann, long-time building industry and community leader. Reitmann spearheaded the effort to bring Builders Care to Lee County and has been a member of the local building industry for 27 years.
“Builders Care and the building industry provide a tremendous service to our community and bring people together to help others in need,” said Senator Benacquisto. “We are so excited to recognize their efforts.”
Builders Care recently hit a milestone in completing over $2 million in construction services to date and completing more than 130 projects in Lee County for needy and deserving elderly and disabled homeowners in need.
Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA). Its objective is to provide emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means. Builders Care enlists the volunteer services of Lee BIA members and leverages grants and donated materials to provide construction and remodeling services to qualified homeowners throughout LeeCounty.
