Botanic Gardens at Lakes Park photo contest open for entries

The Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation is currently collecting entries for its Botanic Garden at Lakes Park Photography Contest, a new addition to its annual National Public Garden Day event. Amateur photographers are invited to submit up to three images of the Community Garden or Fragrance Garden at Lakes Park. The deadline to submit entries is April 30, and winners will be notified prior to May 7. Winning entries will be printed and displayed at Lakes Park during the National Public Garden Day event on May 10. Entries should be submitted in JPEG format on CD or DVD and mailed to the P.O.

Tickets are still available to the Sam Galloway Ford Lakeside Country Bash at Lakes Regional Park on Nov. 30 featuring Grammy-award winning country music artist Alan Jackson. The gates open at 3 p.m., with the first performance beginning at 5 p.m. by country singer and actress Jana Kramer, also known for her role as Alex Dupre on the television series One Tree Hill. Country music recording artist David Nail takes the stage at 6 p.m., followed by country music artist and top male vocalist Rodney Atkins at 7:15 p.m. Headline performer Alan Jackson takes the stage at approximately 8:45 p.m.

Last call for entries for the “Scarecrows in the Park” contest to benefit Lakes Park

Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation is accepting entries for the third annual “Scarecrows in the Park” contest to benefit Lakes Park until Monday, Oct. 8. Local businesses, organizations and the general public can sign up to create a scarecrow to promote their business, organization or simply for fun.
