GE Medical Systems Information Technologies completes acquisition of ProAct Medical AB Acquisition expands digital imaging management for healthcare facilities in Scandinavia. Milwaukee, Wis. And Stockholm, Sweden - (April 3, 2001) - GE Medical Systems Information Technologies today announced that it has finalized the acquisition of ProAct Medical AB, a provider of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) and IT storage solutions for health care providers. ProAct Medical, a division of ProAct IT Group, distributes GE's PACS product to Scandinavian health care providers. In addition to the acquisition, both parties have signed a three-year cooperation agreement in which ProAct IT Group will provide IT- infrastructure systems to GE Medical Systems Information Technologies in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. This agreement would allow both companies to collaborate in providing optimized PACS and infrastructure expertise. Additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The agreement is made through GE Medical Systems Sverige AB. PACS is an advanced digital image management system that allows doctors to view, store, edit and transfer patient images.
