Movir chooses FlexPod from Proact

Utrecht – Disability insurer Movir recently signed a 3-year contract with Proact for the supply, implementation and management of a converged data center infrastructure solution based on the FlexPod reference architecture. FlexPod is a validated solution from Cisco and NetApp that combines networking, computing and storage in one shared IT infrastructure. The environment as a whole will serve as the basis for increasing the availability, scalability, performance and associated IT infrastructure services.

Movir is the only specialist disability insurer for independent professionals in the Netherlands. The solution not only helps to guarantee continuity for Movir’s connection with its internal customers, its extreme scalability also means that it is capable of responding flexibly to changing market demands. Movir’s IS Engineer, Ron Thakour, says, “As well as outstanding expertise in the field of storage and unified computing, Proact always keeps a sharp eye on technological developments.”

The environment Proact is supplying is based on NetApp storage, Cisco UCS servers, and networking and virtualisation from NFS, in combination with VMware. Using a pre-validated design based on established building blocks avoids risks and reduces implementation times. In addition the updating and maintenance of the knowledge and expertise of the data management department will be significantly improved since the entire environment is simple to adjust and manage using a GUI. This last aspect was the decisive factor, particularly as management of the infrastructure is a growing expense, which will be brought back within bounds by implementation of the solution.

Lucas den Os, Managing Director Proact Benelux, says, “Organisations are increasingly moving away from comprehensively evaluating all the suppliers in the market and are focusing above all on the desired functionality and business benefits. Minimal downtime, maximum performance and ultimate scalability & agility are the requirements of today. We are hugely proud that a high-quality service provider like Movir has chosen the FlexPod solution from Proact which can perfectly meet these business requirements.” As a FlexPod Premium partner Proact provides a complete solution, including wholly-owned, 24x7 support for hardware and software.
