ProAct empowers Statnett to increase IT management efficiency ProAct Systems AS, a subsidiary to ProAct IT Group - a leading Nordic specialist and integrator in the field of infrastructure for securing mission-critical information - has been chosen to deliver a storage solution to Statnett in Norway. Statnett owns and runs the power grid that supplies the whole of Norway with electricity. The deal includes the design and implementation of a tailor-made solution for backup and restore of mission critical data. The solution has been designed primarily to make the storage management in Statnett's IT environment easier and more efficient. The solution is based on a StorageTek L700, a disk subsystem from LSI and software from Legato. The deal is expected to be worth approximately 2 million NOK. Since utilities power cannot be stored it must be used in the same instant as it is produced. Therefore, an operator must always maintain the balance between supply and demand. In Norway, this responsibility is Statnett's. Everyone who wants to sell energy in Norway must do so through Statnett. - This deal confirms our position as the leading provider of storage solutions to the energy sector in Norway, says Per-Arne Lundberg, CEO, ProAct IT Group. We have already delivered equivalent solutions to companies such as Lyse Energi, BKK, NordTröndelag E-verk and Ringeriks- Kraft, and also to the leading oil companies such as Statoil, Conoco, Chevron, Shell and Total/Elf/Fina.
