ProAct helps KKL realize new infostructure Switzerland's largest nuclear plant signs five year contract The nuclear power plant in Switzerland, Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt (KKL), realizes its project "redundant data processing centre" in close collaboration with ProAct Datasystems AG. The largest nuclear power plant in Switzerland is located in Leibstadt. The KKL produces yearly more then 9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. This corresponds approximately to a 17 percent share in the Swiss electricity production market. There are around 440 employees managing the maximum-security facility - 24 hours a day. The KKL signed a five year contract with ProAct Datasystems over SEK 12.6 Millions for the realization of a new data security infrastructure. ProAct Datasystems AG is responsible for project management, design, implementation and support of all the infostructure. The solution contains mirrored SAN and NAS components from EMC2, a tape library from StorageTek as well as backup and restore software from Legato. The solution covers not just today's high-level demands of KKL regarding security and availability. It also covers future needs to scale, store, secure and recover mission critical data in a fast growing environment as the nuclear power plant of Leibstadt is.
