ProAct implements storage solution for the Swedish Armed Forces

ProAct implements storage solution for the Swedish Armed Forces ProAct Datasystem AB, a subsidiary of the ProAct IT Group, has been commissioned by FRA - The Swedish Armed Forces Radio Division - to develop and supply a storage solution for project management. The total value of the order is estimated at approximately SEK 13 million. Pressure is increasing on companies and authorities to store ever- greater volumes of information, and the demand for storage capacity to safeguard this information is growing correspondingly. In this case, it was a matter of preparing a simple, scaleable and easy-to-administrate solution that can subsequently be developed and expanded - irrespective of the platform used today and how this platform will develop in the future. "Today, ProAct is one of the very few companies that can analyse, design and supply systems in this class, where requirements for operational reliability and scalability are much more stringent than in most other environments. Our support organisation is also one of the very best in Sweden. This is naturally also crucial to solutions of this kind," says Henrik Wahl, Managing Director of ProAct Datasystem AB. The solution in question is what is known as a Networked Attached Storage (NAS) solution based on equipment from Network Appliance, one of ProAct's regular suppliers. In its present form, the solution has a capacity of 30 terabytes, but it can easily be expanded to accommodate future requirements in this regard. The deal was closed during the second quarter of 2002 and was implemented during Q3.
