Proact qualifies as a provider of IT infrastructure services for European research and education community
Proact has signed a four-year framework agreement with GEANT, the pan-European network that coordinates Europe’s national research and education networking organisations (NRENs), to be able to supply IT infrastructure services to its members in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
GEANT is coordinating OCRE, the Open Clouds for Research Environments project that aims to accelerate cloud adoption in the European research community, by bringing together cloud providers, Earth Observation (EO) organisations and the research and education community, through ready-to-use service agreements.
The OCRE framework agreement allows over 1,600 research and education organisations in Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and United Kingdom to purchase Proact´s local hybrid cloud platform PHC (Proact Hybrid Cloud) and related services, to accelerate their cloud adoption.
In becoming a qualified provider, Proact was assessed and selected due to their experience and expertise in helping organisations to accelerate cloud adoption as part of a multicloud environment, including on-premises infrastructure, hosted cloud services, private cloud services and public cloud services. Within the agreement, both existing and non-existing Proact customers may make use of Proact’s infrastructure services and related professional services, such as consultancy, implementation and optimisation.
“We are, of course, delighted to be selected as a potential cloud partner for the NREN members as we can provide an IaaS platform which is a great alternative to the hyperscaler options, especially in times when research and education sectors are looking to accelerate cloud adoption, but still need to adhere to local regulations relating to data location and data sovereignty, says Danny Duggal, Vice President, Commercial and Communications at Proact IT Group AB.
