ProAct to implement next generation storage solution at Nynäs Petroleum ProAct Datasystem AB has received an order from AB Nynäs Petroleum regarding a new solution for backup and restore of mission critical information. ProAct will streamline the backup/restore by replacing a multitude of different tools with one modern and powerful solution which is based on ProAct FRC, Fast Restore Cache. In connection with other efforts to modernise the IT environment at Nynäs Petroleum, ProAct Datasystem will build a new homogenized and automated solution based on tape robots, software and ProAct's FRC (Fast Restore Cache). FRC is a ProAct solution which ensures a fast restore of mission critical information and optimises the use of hardware resources. FRC makes the backup and restore faster and more efficient by storing the information on a disk system before copying the information to tape in one go, dramatically reducing the wear on the tape stations. Since the information isn't fragmented, the total storage volume is also increased. Less downtime for backup/restore, reduced wear and greater flexibility are advantages that assure a quick return-on-investment for the FRC. - We were looking for a solution that solves our needs for today but also has the capacity to grow with us over the next three-year period. ProAct has great competence and vast experience of both IT infrastructure issues and the business processes that drive our company. The combination makes us feel safe in our choice of integrator and solution, says Veronica Lindgren at Nynäs Petroleum AB. When IT infrastructure grows over a longer period of time, the result is often a mixed environment where different software and hardware co-exist more or less successfully. By investing in a modern and efficient IT infrastructure, the customer usually gets a rapid return on investment which is the reason why ProAct has spent a lot of resources to develop accurate and functional ROI models. - More and more companies are realising that a well planned investment in the IT infrastructure very rapidly pays off in lowered costs of ownership, better availability and a higher level of safety. We are happy to see that companies invest in solutions like Fast Restore Cache that strengthen the efficiency within the company, says Henrik Wahl, Managing Director of ProAct Datasystem AB. The solution, which has been designed for implementation at Nynäs Petroleum's offices in Great Britain and The Netherlands, consists of three tape stations and the software Legato NetWorker. The deal also includes education and support.
