ProAct to provide Norwegian regional healthcare with storage and backup solution ProAct Systems AS, a Norwegian subsidary of ProAct IT Group AB, and the Norwegian regional healthcare project team, RIT2000, in December 2001 signed an agreement to deliver storage and backup/restore solutions for healthcare services in Norway's Midt-Norge region. The deal is worth 14 million NOK. In connection with the procurement of a shared PACS system (Picture Archive and Communication System) for the region's healthcare, RIT2000 made a separate evaluation of solutions for data storage and backup/restore solutions to be used with the system. RIT2000 choose a solution from ProAct Systems AS, which has established itself as a leading provider of NAS (Network Attached Storage) and SAN (Storage Area Network) solutions in Norway. The PACS system will be implemented by Sectra AS, a subsidiary of Sectra AB, a Swedish publicly traded company. Therefore, it will be two Swedish companies ensuring that the population of Norway's Møre and Romsdal and South and North Trøndelag receive the benefits of an efficient and secure archive of x-rays and patient information. - It was the opportunity to receive a packaged solution with the storage and backup/restore from an independent distributor that finalised our choice of ProAct as our storage partner, says, Tore Indreåk, Project Manager at RIT2000. The RIT2000 project stands for the largest healthcare revolution in this Norwegian region in modern times. The x-ray and patient information will be stored in a central facility and will contribute to a higher throughput of patients in the hospitals. All hospitals connected to the region's healthcare will get their own local solutions that interact with the central one. - For ProAct Systems AS this is an agreement of considerable size for a SAN solution. We have built up strong confidence in our solutions and our offering within storage solutions such as NAS and SAN, says Omar A Lien, managing director of ProAct in Norway. He adds that the region has coordinated its resources effectively. - A common PACS system for such a large region seems almost impossible to achieve. Other regions can learn from the experience in Trøndelag. ProAct's office in Trondheim has delivered a number of large storage solutions to Statoil, RUNIT, Sparbank 1 and others.
