AARN, 31 March 2010 - Proact, Europe’s largest independent storage integrator, has concluded an agreement with the Dutch INHolland University of Applied Sciences for the optimisation of its storage and backup environment.

This involves a redundant Netapp environment of 68TB (net), with storage virtualisation using Netapp’s V-series chosen as secondary location. The aim of this virtual environment is to keep options open for future cooperations with other universities. The backup functionality is fully integrated at storage level by means of Netapp’s patented snapshot technology, which stores snapshots in two locations. The INHolland University of Applied Sciences has a test environment which is functionally similar to the production environment. Proact will handle implementation, migration and three different support SLAs which meet the respective requirements of the production, secondary and test systems. Powerful elements of NetApp’s portfolio, such as Performance Acceleration Modules (PAM II) cards, V-Series, SnapManagers including for VMware Virtual Infrastructure, ASIS deduplication, Operations Manager and Flexclone, are incorporated into the solution. In addition the environment will make full use of the “Unified Storage” features of NetApp, allowing CIFS, NFS, Fibre Channel and iSCSI to all be available from the same array.
