Unique UCS Technology in Use: Proact to Build Data Center Environment for TDC
Proact, the largest storage solution expert in the Northern Europe, is to provide a storage system for the corporate operator TDC. The delivery will cover duplication of disk space to the two data centers of TDC and the servers used for consolidating virtual machines.
Proact will implement the data center renovation using the products of its partners Cisco, NetApp and EMC. The technology provided by NetApp is the unique MetroCluster. It can be used to distribute one storage system to two geographically separate data centers with full synchronisation.
“The virtual machines in the TDC data centers see MetroCluster as one disk system. In addition, same services can be executed from both data centers without interruptions in use. Also maintenance, updates and tests can be managed without interruptions,” says Sales Manager Petri Heino of Proact Finland.
TDC’s data is secured using the deduplication technology by EMC. Deduplication eliminates unnecessary overlapping data entries. At the same time, network traffic and related costs decline.
Proact is Cisco’s first USC-certified partner in Finland
The TDC servers will be equipped with Cisco’s new UCS (Unified Computing System) technology.
“The USC architecture makes it possible to combine smoothly network technology and storage systems into a virtualised data center,” describes Systems Architect Calle Granfelt of TDC.
The UCS architecture developed by Cisco covers servers, network solutions and administration software. They all are commanded by virtualisation software.
Proact is Cisco’s first USC-certified partner in Finland. According to the acknowledgement, Proact has the most profound understanding in the business on building cloud services that support virtualisation.
