Scania logging truck with Allison automatic transmission keeps the tow truck away
BOLLEBYGD, SWEDEN – J G Andersson and Sons in Linneryd is a privately-owned sawmill with a long history. JGA was started back in 1928 and is owned today by the third generation of Anderssons. When JGA decided to buy its own logging truck, the choice of transmission was not negotiable: it had to be equipped with a fully automatic transmission. So, in May 2009 JGA bought a Scania R480 with an Allison 4500 Series automatic transmission. "We started to drive longer trips to collect logs in the area where a huge storm (Gudrun) had destroyed the forest," says Carl-Gustaf Johansson, manager at JGA.
