ProPublica Hires Social Media Producer

New York, N.Y. – January 10, 2012 – ProPublica has hired social media producer Blair Hickman to join its newsroom on January 23. Hickman is a recent graduate of New York University’s Studio 20 master’s program in Digital Journalism and Web Innovation. Oregonian Reporter Joins ProPublica’s Newsroom

New York, N.Y. – December 19, 2011 – ProPublica today announced that Nikole Hannah-Jones of The Oregonian will be joining its award-winning newsroom as a reporter on December 19. She will be covering the ongoing economic downturn and how it has impacted the average American. Hannah-Jones has been with The Oregonian since 2006, focusing on governmental issues, the census as well as race and ethnicity. Her latest stories exposed significant shortcomings in the enforcement of fair housing laws in Portland, and eventually prompted officials to draft the city’s first fair housing plan.

ProPublica Names Daniel Victor as New Social Media Editor

New York, N.Y. – October 18, 2011 – ProPublica announced today that Daniel Victor will join its investigative newsroom as social media editor next month. Victor, who helped launch Philly.com’s hyperlocal site and currently guides the site’s aggregation strategy, will direct all of ProPublica’s expanding crowdsourcing and social media efforts.
