Railcare comments on derailment on Malmbanan
The derailment near Gällivare is not expected to have a negative financial effect on Railcare.
A train carrying iron ore derailed on Malmbanan near Gällivare on Sunday 7 November. The derailment was extensive and is expected to lead to lengthy stoppages on the route.
Railcare carries out transports on Malmbanan on behalf of LKAB and Kaunis Iron AB. The train carrying iron ore was not operating under Railcare’s management. Railcare’s transport assignment also includes other routes and these assignments have not been affected by the derailment.
“We regret that this situation has occurred and will assist our customer to seek solutions wherever possible. Our assessment is that the derailment will not have a negative financial effect on Railcare,” commented Mattias Remahl, CEO of Railcare Group.
