Railway Metrics and Dynamics (RMD) Showcases Its Technology at TCC in Colorado, USA
On October 7-8, 2025, the third edition of the TCC Conference and Tour will take place in Pueblo, Colorado, USA. RMD has been specially invited by TCC and will demonstrate its platform, sensors, and derailment detection system in a full-scale derailment test
What is TCC?
TCC stands for “Transportation Technology Center” and received its current name in 2022 when ENSCO took over operations on behalf of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), which also owns the facility.
Established in 1971, the 135 km² facility was previously known as the “High-Speed Ground Test Center”. It is one of the world's most advanced test sites for the railway industry and has played a key role in research, development, and testing of both railway infrastructure and rolling stock.
What is the TCC Conference and Tour?
The TCC Conference and Touris a two-day event consisting of a conference day and a demonstration day, held at theTransportation Technology Centerin Pueblo, Colorado.
The first day features technical presentations, structured networking, and unique opportunities to connect with leaders and decision-makers in the global railway industry. TCC is considered the premier meeting place for government agencies, industry, and academia within the transportation sector.
The second day includes live demonstrations of rail-related technology and guided tours of TCC’s state-of-the-art test facilities.
RMD Demonstrates PMUs and Derailment Detection
On the second day, exhibiting companies will conduct live demonstrations, culminating in a dramatic event—a train derailment. RMD, which has been specially invited by TCC, will use this derailment test to showcase its PMU sensors, derailment detection system, and the MyTrain app, which provides real-time alerts to train operators.
Following the demonstration, RMD will present detailed data and system performance results, answer questions, and discuss future development plans.
Normally, organizing a train derailment demonstration would be extremely difficult and costly. However, TCC sees this as an opportunity to showcase both RMD’s technology and the capabilities of TCC’s test facility in a large-scale demonstration.
– The U.S. has the world's largest freight rail network. Getting the chance to present our technology to decision-makers from around the world is a fantastic opportunity. The potential for RMD in the American market is enormous, and this event is a major opportunity for us, says Jan Lindqvist, CEO of Railway Metrics and Dynamics.
TCC conducts testing in several key areas:
- High-speed and conventional rail – Evaluation of tracks, signaling, rolling stock, and safety systems.
- Freight transportation – Research on durability, capacity, and energy efficiency.
- Safety testing – Crash tests, derailment simulations, and emergency system development.
- Environmental and climate testing – Assessing materials and components under extreme weather conditions.
Key Facilities at TCC
- High Tonnage Loop (HTL) – A test track for long-term wear studies on both tracks and rolling stock. HTL is used to analyze rail wear and wheel profiles under heavy freight operations in real-world conditions.
- Rail Dynamics Laboratory (RDL) – A facility for advanced testing of forces affecting trains and infrastructure, including dynamic loads, vibrations, and rolling stock stability.
- Precision Test Track (PTT) – A high-precision test track used for evaluating track stability and high-speed performance, including track geometry, vehicle performance, and safety aspects.
- Impact Test Facility – A crash test site where various types of rolling stock and infrastructure components are subjected to simulated accident scenarios to enhance safety.
- Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) – A specialized training center for safety and emergency response, providing hands-on training for authorities and industry professionals on handling hazardous materials and railway-related incidents.
