Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, California (an affiliate within the Sharp HealthCare System), has selected RayStation® as its primary treatment planning system. Sharp Grossmont is the second hospital in the healthcare system to choose RayStation this year.

The largest healthcare facility in East County San Diego, Sharp Grossmont Hospital offers a wide range of specialties, including cancer treatment. The center has a strong focus on innovation and advanced technology in order to support cutting-edge techniques and ensure the highest levels of care for patients, and it needed a new primary treatment planning system that would support this focus.

RayStation was chosen following an evaluation of leading treatment planning systems on the market. Key factors in the decision include the system’s high efficiency and cutting-edge functionality such as multi-criteria optimization and adaptive planning. In addition to these, the purchase includes features such as dose tracking and deformable registration.

Dr. Kelly DeWitt, board-certified radiation oncologist and medical director of Sharp Grossmont’s Department of Radiation Oncology, says: “RayStation will give Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s cancer center the efficiency to treat a high volume of patients and the versatility to adapt to the rapidly changing environment of radiation oncology.”

Johan Löf, CEO of RaySearch, says: “RayStation is designed to support cutting-edge treatment techniques, and we are very pleased to help Sharp Grossmont Hospital meet the needs of patients and stay at the forefront of radiation therapy. We are increasing our global base and it is gratifying to see this expansion within the Sharp HealthCare System.”
