Realfiction updates on its ECHO development and Sales Activities
Realfiction Holding AB (“Realfiction”) announces continued progress in the development of its ECHO holographic display technology, and the company sees a positive recovery for its Sales Activities.
A summary of the latest progress per business area is presented below.
ECHO development
During spring, Realfiction has continued to progress according to plan with the integration license package for its ECHO holographic display technology together with its domestic and international development partners. Many leading scientists at the development partners have now joined this project and expressed their enthusiasm and confidence in the crucial ability to create extremely small, fast, and bright pixels in a scalable commercial solution based on the ECHO technology. To further speed up the development process, the company is looking to expand its ECHO development team in geographic areas with strong commercial display expertise.
In addition to the technical development, Realfiction has during the summer held meetings with display industry suppliers and consumer electronics companies and is in touch with large display manufacturers to schedule meetings. The feedback received so far has been positive and constructive, and Realfiction is eagerly looking forward to further intensifying the dialogue at upcoming commercial meetings.
To ensure that ECHO holographic displays have access to a flow of exciting holographic content from day one, Realfiction has invented a software solution as a part of its ECHO strategy. This software has the potential to become an industry standard for the conversion of 3D films into holographic films. A patent application for this exciting software solution, named “HoloWize”, was filed by the company in April 2021, and a search report from the patent Examiner, that pre-validates the novelty of the HoloWize software, has subsequently been received.
Magic-as-a-Service (MaaS) for Retail
In light of reduced COVID-19 restrictions, Realfiction is planning to meet with its German partner EDEKA in September to discuss a further deployment of the rollout of MaaS for Retail in EDEKA stores.
MaaS for Exhibitions and Experience (Hardware)
Realfiction sees a positive trend in this part of its business with larger orders and requests for quotes as more markets are preparing to allow physical events and meetings in the coming quarters, even though sales are not back to pre-COVID-19 levels.
Upcoming events with customers using Dreamoc displays include events in Toronto, Canada, Georgia and Las Vegas, USA, and Husuum, Germany, with display rentals/sales including 4-5 large Dreamoc units in September-October.
Recent hardware sales include amongst others the following three orders:
- 20 Dreamoc HD3 displays to be used in Scandinavian stores for the promotion of Warrior hockey equipment, and
- 6 medium sized Dreamoc XL4 displays and 6 Dreamoc HD3 displays to one the company’s German partners, and
- 6 large Dreamoc Diamond displays and 10 medium sized Dreamoc XL4 displays with accessories to an Asian end-costumer.
The 20 HD3 units were delivered in June, the order to Germany has been delivered in July, while the order to the Asian costumer is expected to be delivered in October 2021. The combined revenue from these three orders is estimated to reach 4.4 MSEK in 2021.
Realfiction moves into new offices
Realfiction has moved into new offices in the city center of Copenhagen, Denmark. This will reduce the company’s running costs, while more importantly relocating Realfiction to a part of the city where creativity and development of new innovations has a more central role. This will be a perfect spot for the completion of the company’s groundbreaking ECHO holographic display technology.
“We are continuing to develop Realfiction in the right direction, with positive signs coming from both our ECHO development and our Sales Activities. I hope that this update conveys that we continue to be firmly on track to create a complete hardware and software solution for next-generation holographic experiences in social settings, with an elegant solution to the chicken-and-egg dilemma that we would have faced without addressing the content availability issue at an early stage. I am also excited to see the positive recovery for our Sales Activities. These segments also have great potential, even though it may take some time to get back to pre-COVID-19 sales levels,” says Realfiction’s CEO Clas Dyrholm.
