Among the restaurants featured in the new book, with many participating in the launch event are, Abode in Exeter, The Old Coastguard in Cornwall, The Bath Priory Hotel and Gidleigh Park, The Queen’s Arms in Somerset, The Three Gables in Wiltshire, and the Harbar Brasserie at Harbour Heights Hotel in Dorset. This line up of outstanding venues demonstrates just a selection of the restaurants featured in the book, and shows the compelling reason why this is the ideal book for any fine of great cooking and fine dining.

Offering his personal insight into the culinary expertise in the region is one of the countries most celebrated chefs, and a local celebrity, who has his restaurants featured in the new book. Michael Caines MBE is Food and Beverage Director at Brownsword Hotels and Executive Chef at Gidleigh Park.

Michael Caines commented on his passion for the region and the importance of local produce: ‘As a Devon boy I have always felt the importance of supporting local producers; in a rural area it helps small communities to thrive and keeps businesses and families in the region. For me, it means that I always have great produce to inspire my menus. The south west continues to lead the UK in high quality, authentic cooking with locally sourced ingredients and that’s what makes it special.’

Talking about the new Relish Publication Michael Caines also stated: ‘This book is packed full of exceptional places to eat, and delicious recipes to cook, so get stuck into it and hopefully the south west will inspire you as much as it inspires me.’

Commenting on the new book, Duncan Peters from Relish Publications said: ‘The South West has been an incredible region to produce a book for, as the range of fine dining experiences and outstanding restaurants we have in the book shows. The region really drives for perfection, and there is a real sense that supporting local producers and using locally sourced premium quality products is at the heart of the philosophy of many of the great chefs.’

Teresa Peters, from Relish Publications commented on the launch event: ‘This has been one of our best books to pull together, and we are really looking forward to the formal launch on the 11th December. Set in the tranquil surroundings of The Bath Priory Hotel, we are delighted to be hosting a relaxing afternoon, where these hard working chefs can mingle and celebrate their combined contribution to this great book.’
