Whilst the Relish brand is respected across the UK, as a North East girl, I’m so proud to be involved in placing the North East and Yorkshire on the culinary map. There are some gifted chefs and fabulous restaurants in the North and many chefs hide away from the camera because their passion is to cook. We are very proud to launch this application and now that tablet devices can handle HD full colour publications, and are available to the mass market, we feel the time is right to make our Relish Books application available. We know it will become a firm favourite for the ultimate foodie and those keen to experiment with new innovative recipes. We waited to launch our product this way, simply because our hard back books have been so well regarded and offer a great quality companion to anyone who loves inventive cooking and fine dining. The online offer through this app carries the same quality graphics and information as our range of books, and we know this opens our product up to the massive ex-pat market and internationally, where demand for high quality British cuisine is very high.

We wanted to work alongside NECTA this year and recognise the contribution of this body to the development of our fine dining sector. Many of the chefs featured in our existing Relish cook books have started their careers in these FE colleges learning the essential skills which are required by all professional chefs. We also wanted to reward the chef of the year, and so have offered an exclusive 2 page insertion in our forthcoming Relish North East and Yorkshire book, to showcase the NECTA event and the winner of this prestigious award. We are glad to be attending the event and also offering a discounted packages of all our recipe books to colleges, as aides to excellence, and to be presenting an award at the gala dinner.

The turnout for the launch was amazing and a real credit to the culinary profession in Scotland. We had the most talented chefs ever assembled in one location for a really great afternoon and after some formal introductions, the whole day was a chance to relax and enjoy great company and to spend some time informally, which is a real luxury for these hard working and committed restaurant operators. The top chefs in the region work long hours and they deserved the opportunity to meet and celebrate the success of their publication.
