Fast-track your retail career with a Retail Trust Scholarship to the Oxford Summer School Foundation
Applications are now open for eight managers to secure free scholarships worth £1,895 to the Foundation level at bira’s Oxford Summer School on 1-5 July at St Catherine's College, Oxford. The course is designed to give delegates deeper insights into all aspects of the business allowing them to become better managers.
Retail Trust, the only charity that looks after all three million people working in retail, offers free scholarships to all the Oxford Summer School courses, as well as a range of free services to those in need. The Foundation course is open to managers - from supervisory to store level - working in companies of less than 1000 employees.
The intense course comprises a programme of challenging activities, talks and social events. A case study task performed in small groups requires collaborative learning from fellow team members. Insight profiling teaches delegates about themselves as managers and how to improve communication with their staff. A city challenge gets the delegates out of the classroom for a task which demands efficient time management and teamwork for successful completion. Each day, there is a focus on transferring the learning into real action plans to take back to the delegates’ companies.
Industry leaders deliver presentations on leadership, coaching and business styles, which reinforce the learning of the week. This year’s speakers have been confirmed as Jo Walker, Managing Director of The Perfume Shop; Darren Blackhurst, CEO of Matalan; Philip Hesketh, Motivational speaker; Alf Dunbar, Coach and Motivational Speaker, and Patrick Marr, Managing Director of Leading Edge.
Some comments from attendees about the course:
“Life-changing…”
“…helped me grow…”
“…amazing experience that I would recommend to anybody…”
