Apex Lifts is collaborating with innovative cycle storage company, EcoCycle in creating eco-friendly technology to improve and secure the cycling storage network around the country.

With 80,000 bikes being stolen each year, the EcoCycle storage system has been designed to create a secure, practical and environmentally friendly parking unit for cyclists. Originating in Japan, EcoCyle has two storage products, a revolving cylinder and a vault system. The units can be built into the piles of tall buildings. Both alternatives offer a maximum capacity of 204 bikes, with an average retrieval time of 13 seconds. Nick Knight, Managing Director of EcoCycle, believes the company’s products are the “future for cycling”.

Apex Lifts is always looking for ways of increasing its involvement in sustainable engineering in the manufacture and installation of its lifts. Therefore, as well as a being perfect match for its business as a manufacturer and installer of lifts, its collaboration with EcoCycle reflects the company's environmental ethos perfectly.

“It’s vital for all businesses to take responsibility for protecting and sustaining the environment,” explains Warren Jenchner, Managing Director of Apex Lifts. “EcoCycle is an exciting project for Apex Lifts. We’ve pledged to reduce our own carbon footprint, we’re delighted to be able to help others do the same!”

Apex is supporting the EcoCycle project by manufacturing components and constructing the units in the UK. The first EcoCycle fully working demonstrator model in the UK is located between Southwark and Waterloo station with plans to expand across the country.
