Rovio announces new Café and Birthday services concept

Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria -- October 29th -- Rovio Entertainment announced today the upcoming opening of Angry Birds Activity Park Gran Canaria on October 31st. Covering an area of more than 5000m2, this park is the fourth, and largest, in Rovio’s series of ventures with the leading provider of vacation travel services Holiday Club Resorts and the first to host Rovio’s new Café and Birthday services.

We are really excited to bring another Angry Birds Activity Park to life; this time in Gran Canaria,” said Dan Mitchell, Rovio’s Director of Location Based Entertainment. “Gran Canaria is such a fun destination and the partnerships, teamwork, and dedication of everyone involved in this project will create another amazing experience for our fans. Featuring some all new elements, we really hope everyone, both local residents and tourists, will enjoy coming out and experiencing this together as a family.”

This new park in Gran Canaria will increase and complement the current leisure offerings on the southern side of the island. “We are all very proud of the forthcoming opening of Angry Birds Activity Park Gran Canaria. This new endeavor will certainly add value to the Puerto Rico resort area and will bring in more visitors. Apart from being a significant tourist attraction, it will also serve the local people and create new job opportunities”, says Calvin Lucock, Managing Director of Holiday Club Canarias.

“The European travel industry should concentrate more on content”, says Vesa Tengman, CEO of Holiday Club Resorts. “Too often the focus is on accommodation – of which there is already an oversupply. Active holidays are pivotal to Holiday Club. The Angry Birds Activity Parks complement our concept, which offers high quality holiday accommodation, services, and year-round activity possibilities.”

Rovio’s novel Café and Birthday services concept is a brand new addition to the existing amenities offered at Angry Birds Activity Parks, and will feature a diverse menu of fresh alternatives to quick bites as well as á la minute dishes and the possibility to organize personalized events at the venues, such as birthday parties.

‘‘Our Café and Birthday services at Angry Birds Activity Parks will offer delightful and tasty meal options for all family members as well as a variety of event planning possibilities for all occasions, adding further value to our existing range of entertainment options and allowing families to truly engage during their holidays’’, said Riikka Ahtiainen Director of Restaurants, Shops at Rovio Entertainment.

This park has been designed in collaboration with Lappset Group Ltd., a Finland-based company specialized in themed activity parks. We’re extremely excited to be part of this remarkable project and to have supplied this high-quality entity, the fourth of this kind for Holiday Club Resorts’’, said Tero Ylinenpää, Deputy CEO of Lappset Group Ltd.
