Royal Blind School takes centre stage at global music conference

Tuesday March 10 2015The Royal Blind School is today (Tuesday) sharing the school’s approach to music education with an international audience at the first major conference to explore visually impaired musicians' lives. At the two day conference in London, music teacher Louisa Maddison will discuss music education for children and young people with a visual impairment. Delegates in the 200 strong audience will include academics, researchers, visually impaired musicians, representatives of the music industry and organisations working in the field of visual impairment from around the globe.

Forward Vision enters ‘Care Home Idol’ with a Christmas classic

Royal Blind Press Release - 22 December 2014The young adults at Forward Vision in Edinburgh have recorded their very own Christmas musical classic – and they need votes to help win the ‘Care Home Idol’ trophy for 2014. The regular music workshop run by Forward Vision – a service which provides support and care to 18-25 year olds with a visual impairment and additional disabilities - was given a tinsel makeover this month. RE-DEVELOPMENT OF ROYAL BLIND SCHOOL BEGINS

One of Scotland’s oldest specialist schools begins a year-long re-development project this month to merge its two campuses into one. The Royal Blind School in Edinburgh, which has supported blind and visually impaired students for 178 years, begins work this month to adapt its campus at Canaan Lane in Morningside. The re-development of the school will see its excellent facilities at Canaan Lane enhanced to take pupils across the whole curriculum and range of needs.
