Safe at Sea AB (publ) starts the development of a completely new electric and fossil-free powertrain, called ElEcoRunner.

The RescueRunner system is used by the Swedish Sea Rescue Society in rescue operations at sea and today the organization has about 50 RescueRunners which are powered by gasoline engines. In the ElEcoRunner project, Proof of Concept will be implemented with a RescueRunner platform equipped with a new electric and fossil-free powertrain. One of the goals of the project is also to explore the possibilities to retrofit the powertrain in existing RescueRunners. The cooperation between Safe at Sea and the Swedish Sea Rescue Society includes support with competence and sea trials. If Proof of Concept is successful, the cooperation will continue by the Swedish Sea Rescue Society acquiring their own ElEcoRunner unit for further tests and evaluation.

“For us being able to develop the future environment-friendly lifeboat system together with the Swedish Sea Rescue Society is a strong indicator for us that we are focusing on the right thing. We see a great interest in the ElEcoRunner, both in terms of participation in development work and future demand. We look forward to start Proof of Concept now ” says Henrik Hartman, CEO at Safe at Sea AB (publ).
