www.dfscontract.co.uk aims to provide a complete furniture solution for independent and large hotel groups

Watford, London, 30th April 2014Salmon, specialists in delivering eCommerce and multichannel solutions, has helped DFS, Britain’s biggest, most well-known sofa retailer and Curtis Furniture launch their first B2B website, DFS Contract.  Trade customers can now search the widest range of contract furniture in the UK at, www.dfscontract.co.uk

DFS has over 44 years’ experience of designing, manufacturing and retailing upholstered furniture.  Together with Curtis, DFS’ design team has developed an exclusive range of contract grade furniture.  Alongside DFS, Salmon designed, developed and is now supporting the new website.  It is modern, clean and most importantly, inspirational; encouraging browsing by featuring fantastic imagery across the entire customer journey. The site is full of rich content, including case histories, example products and the history of DFS and Curtis. The site is also optimised for tablet devices.

This project follows the successful implementation by Salmon, of DFS’ new multichannel platform in 2013 and relaunch of www.dfs.co.uk. The new website has been built as an extended site on the same WebSphere Commerce-based platform.  This allows DFS to target a different kind of customer with a customised website while sharing data assets such as catalogue information between the two sites. This not only brings business efficiencies in site management effort but also reduces the chance of any data management issues.

Russell Harte, Head of Multichannel Development & Delivery at DFS said: “Our investment in the last 18 months with Salmon, in replatforming our website to support dfs.co.uk and now launching dfscontract.co.uk is paying dividends. We are really pleased with the progress we have made with online unique visitors growing by 36% in the last year and some great trading results; we hope DFS Contract will follow in its footsteps.”

Neil Stewart, CEO at Salmon said: “We are pleased to be part of DFS’s digital transformation and wish them every success with their new B2B venture.  They are a great example of how businesses can create additional web sites relatively easily and quickly targeting different market segments or for additional brands, if they put the right platform in place in the first instance.”
