HUONE group doubles turnover, turns profit from Singapore office within 6 months

Events hotel group on track to expand to 10 new locations within 2 years

Events hotel chain HUONE has announced 182% growth at group level for the 2016-17 financial year, with HUONE Singapore becoming profitable within the first 6 months of operation. HUONE has targeted continued growth in Helsinki and rapid scaling of Singapore for the next financial year, with expansion to a total of 10 new locations within 2 years.

HUONE CEO Evon Söderlund says a shift in the way people work is driving the group’s success.

“Where and how people work is evolving rapidly. With the trends that have been developing around us such as coworking spaces, F2F events, and globalisation, we strongly believe that the demand for meeting places will continue to grow. We want to target this trend and solve the pain of corporates finding a place to meet on a global level.”

Board member and Takeoff Partners Co-Founder Markko Vaarnas believes HUONE Singapore validates the chain’s viability in international business environments.

“Singapore has proven that the international potential of HUONE is huge,” said Vaarnas. “It is one of the most highly-contested meeting hubs, and quality standards are exceptionally high. Based on what we learned in Singapore, we can further improve how we set up new units and make the process less resource intensive. We are currently working on our plan to quickly scale new units to new locations,” he concluded.

The award-winning chain raised over 500K € on equity crowdfunding platform Invesdor last year, and has expanded their Helsinki venue to almost 3 times its original size since 2015. Significant board members include Kyrö Distillery investor Elina Koivumäki and Juuso Kokko of CMB Ravintolat.
