New data: 37% of all B2B sales transactions happen outside office hours, according to HeadQ’s digital eCommerce platform

With over €100M in sales transactions through HeadQ’s digital eCommerce platform for complex products and services, data shows that B2B companies risk losing significant revenue as over one-third of B2B buyers are most active outside office hours – highlighting the importance of B2B consumerization.

HeadQ, a Helsinki-based B2B eCommerce platform for complex products and services, has released data showing that 36.7% of all B2B sales transactions happen outside office hours.

Research shows that 70% of B2B decision-makers are prepared to spend up to $500,000 on a single e-commerce transaction, and businesses that rely solely on human interaction during office hours risk hundreds of thousands in lost revenue per year, if not more. HeadQ’s platform helps to enable complex B2B sales transactions to occur online at any time.

Unlike traditional B2B sales, where pricing information is often not available, customers are forced to contact sales, or it’s hard to compare and understand technical specifications based on complex needs, HeadQ enables its customers to provide a frictionless buying experience for their customers, as they can configure complex products suited to their needs, get a quote, and checkout right from their website. HeadQ bridges the gap between traditional sales and pure end-to-end self-service, making the sales process more efficient and buyer-friendly.

Consumer retail online has been commonplace for a decade, shaping B2B buyers’ expectations as well: they want the same ease of transaction, with everything available for purchase online. Data from Gartner found that 83% of B2B buyers prefer ordering or paying through digital commerce.

“We’ve found that the companies that provide the best self-service buying experience get the upper hand in sales. Car manufacturers used to focus on the driving experience in marketing and taking test drives from the dealership. Then came Tesla with a configurable online sales channel, completely disrupting the market. We’re offering the same thing in B2B sales – our technology enables buyers to get a smooth, self-service buying experience when they want and how they want,” says Mikko Seppä, CEO and co-founder of HeadQ.

HeadQ provides tools to enable flexible and configurable digital sales, whether pure self-service or assisted online sales. The implementation process is fast and flexible, whereas building visual product configurators was once a lengthy and costly process, accessible only to the largest companies.

HeadQ’s Visual Product Configurator transforms static specification sheets into an engaging, interactive experience that eliminates the need for a salesperson. It provides customizable pricing options for each product, allowing customers to choose how they want to obtain pricing: they can request a quote, fill out a lead form, configure their product for an estimate, or view the exact price and purchase directly. Additionally, HeadQ’s online payment module offers various self-service options, enabling customers to pay using credit cards, request PDF invoices, or integrate payment information with their invoicing systems.

HeadQ was co-founded in 2022 by serial entrepreneurs Mikko Seppä and Paavo Laaksonen, who secured exit deals for their previous company, Advance B2B, along with CTO Ville Häkkinen.

HeadQ has generated over €100M in sales through its eCommerce platform, with customers like CTN, Real Machinery, Murska, and Best Hall using HeadQ to digitalize their B2B sales.
