Ambition and international growth see health tech company included on Business Weekly’s list of hottest startups

Finnish wearable health tech company Oura Health has been named one of Finland’s most promising startups by Business Weekly (Talouselämä), the largest weekly business publication in Finland.

The Oulu-based health tech company behind the Oura ring and app has been recognized for its field-leading wellness technology and strong company growth fuelled by more than 15,000 pre-orders being placed during the first two months of pre-sales for the new Oura ring. Since being officially announced at the Slush tech conference on November 30, 2017, pre-orders for the new Oura ring have been received from more than 50 countries to date, with around 60% coming from the USA.

A jury composed of recognised Finnish industry experts chose the most promising startups based on their ambition and potential for international growth. “A great team is courageous, international, complements each other’s’ skills and gets things done,” says Inka Mero, jury president and Chairman of the Board for Industryhack, in Business Weekly.

“People from many different backgrounds and life situations are excited about the Oura solution. Our retention rates are higher than industry averages, which is a sign that we’re bringing real value to people’s lives,” says Petteri Lahtela, CEO of Oura Health. “The new Oura ring and app is a unique combination of technology, science, design and wearing comfort. We have extremely competent, passionate people in each of these fields in our team, which is growing by the day.”

The Oura ring is used by entrepreneurs, technologists, biohackers and health professionals around the world. Dr. Peter H. Diamandis, whose achievements include Founder and Executive Chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation, Executive Founder of the Singularity University and the Co-Founder and Vice-Chairman of Human Longevity Inc. (HLI), is a long-term user of the first-generation Oura ring.

“The vast majority of people today are not getting enough quality sleep,” he said. “I love my Oura ring, it helps me understand how I’m spending one-third of my life. Sleep diagnostics, like the Oura ring, has the potential to positively impact the lives and health of billions of people.”

The new Oura ring and the free Oura app helps users get more restorative sleep and align their lifestyle to their natural circadian rhythm. The app offers daily advice on a range of subjects, including optimal bedtimes to ensure more restorative sleep.
