Group market trends, RASK and yield development
The traffic continued to develop as expected with particularly strong development on intercontinental and European routes. Currency adjusted yield (Scandinavian Airlines) and RASK in May 2013 was down 1.3% and 4.7% respectively versus previous year in line with guidance. In June 2013 the change in yield and RASK vs. last year is expected to be close to unchanged.
Overall, the market develops according to SAS expectations. Following the launch of SAS Go & Plus, SAS has had a positive sales development, indicating a positive response amongst customers to the new service concept. Despite that yield has been somewhat more stable during the first half of the 2012/13 financial year, the over capacity on certain routes adds uncertainty and the SAS Group continues to expect a negative trend for the RASK for the full year 2012/13. Throughout the summer, SAS will commence flights on 32 new routes and in total plans to open 52 new routes during calendar year 2013. The capacity increase for the fiscal year 2012/13 is expected to be approximately 5-6%.
