Check in from your PC at home SAS has now launched a new version of www.scandinavian.net that has simpler, faster booking and an optional Internet check-in function and seat selection. The new website will have more straightforward navigation and a more contemporary and user-friendly design. Today's customers demand efficient travel. Consequently, SAS is prioritizing convenient new solutions. The new travel concept "Scandinavian Direct" is the latest example of this focus. In connection with the launch of the concept in June 2002, SAS will also introduce the new website. Apart from several new functions, the new version has a simpler, more intuitive navigation structure. "The SAS website is one of our most important sales and communications channels. In 2001, it generated net sales of more than SEK 1 bn. We realize that our electronic channels can contribute to more efficient direct sales and increased flexibility to tailor service to accommodate customer preferences," says Filip Francke, manager of SAS Electronic Channels. The new website brings all products together in a single booking function. Using the Internet check-in function, customers can now register, check in and select their seats even before they arrive at the airport. The Internet check-in function may be used no earlier than 22 hours before departure, and is available to all passengers traveling on intra-Scandinavian routes, as well as domestic flights within Denmark, Norway and Sweden - regardless of ticket class. "We are expecting that the Internet check-in function will be popular. We have already seen strong interest in the current testing phase, and have received many positive responses. We focus on simplicity, and we want our travelers to book their trips on www.scandinavian.net, travel on an electronic ticket and use the Internet site to check in and reserve their seat. This will enable them to proceed directly to the gate as soon as they arrive at the airport, without having to wait. In case of delays or gate changes, customers will be informed by SMS," says Filip Francke. The main suppliers of the new website are the Scandinavian IT-Group, Vignette, Microsoft, Adcore and Starsky.
