Information about SK 686 Milan - Copenhagen Accident We deeply regret to inform that all indications point towards no surviving passengers or crew from today's accident with SK686 from Milan to Copenhagen . All available information from SAS has been handed over to the relevant authorities. The first aircraft containing next-of-kin will be flown to Milan this evening. Jörgen Lindegaard, President and CEO of SAS, will be on board the flight. An additional next-of-kin flight is planned for tomorrow, October 9. A second press conference was held at SAS headquarters in Frösundavik (Stockholm) at 18:00 hours today. SAS is doing everything possible to help our passengers' and crews' relatives economically by offering such payments as may be necessary to meet their immediate needs. As an interim relief SAS will, regardless of the cause of the accident, pay a sum of USD 25,000 per passenger to next- of-kin. The aircraft, a MD87 was delivered to SAS on September 21, 1991 and has flown 25,573 hrs in 16,562 flights. The aircraft is equipped with 2 engines. The latest major check B6:1 was performed on September 3, 2001. The names of the passengers and crew will be released when all next-of- kin have been notified. A special hot-line number has been established for families and relatives.
