SAS Scandinavian Airlines would like to inform its customers all its Scandinavian hubs (Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm) will remain closed during the whole day of April 16, 2010. The continued closure of these airports follows the aviation authorities in Denmark, Norway and Sweden’s updated regulations due to the volcanic ash cloud.

This means that no SAS flights will operate in Denmark or Sweden until Copenhagen and Stockholm airports will open. Whilst Oslo airport remains closed, limited traffic in Northern Norway only might resume later today, but it is not confirmed and we refer all updates to our websites. “Our staff in all departments and at all airports are doing their utmost to take care of each and every customer that has been stranded due to this situation. We are doing everything possible to help passengers and as soon as aviation authorities open up the various air spaces we will immediately start bringing everyone to their destination. In the meantime, we ask for everyone’s patience as this is way beyond SAS’ control,” says Robin Kamark, Chief Commercial Officer. At this moment SAS will not estimate when air traffic will resume and refers all media questions on this topic to the local air transport authorities. We refer all customers to our local websites (www.sas.dk, www.sas.no, www.sas.se and www.flysas.com) for continuous updates with the latest information. SAS is also on Facebook, www.facebook.com/flysas All customers have the right to rebook or cancel their flights as follows: Rebooking/Refund Passengers originally booked on cancelled SAS operated flights may be rerouted to other flights to the same destination. The ticket may also be refunded. Passenger holding reservation April 16 - 17, 2010 Passenger holding reservation on a SAS flight not yet affected may be rebooked to another SAS flight on another date in the same service class as originally booked to the same destination. Travel must be completed December 31, 2010. Rebooking or refund does not have to be done immediately, but can be done at any time in the near future.
