SAS campaign focuses on international IT market SAS's IT business area, which is operated by the SAS subsidiary Scandinavian Airlines Data, is now launching a major international campaign to market new products and services to the airline and travel industry. In conjunction with the campaign, the company is changing its name to the Scandinavian IT Group. The global travel industry is well-known to the Scandinavian IT Group, which delivers IT services such as booking and reservation to over thirty airlines. The Scandinavian IT Group has already carried out several key assignments for the Star Alliance. The Group is developing and implementing several new mobile services for Star Alliance's customers using cutting-edge technologies such as SMS, WAP and Bluetooth. In addition, the Scandinavian IT Group develops solutions for "ticketless travel" (e-ticketing), Internet sales and booking systems, passenger information accessible by cellphone, self-service systems, travel management systems, aircraft maintenance, cargo control, etc. The Scandinavian IT Group has observed a steadily rising demand among their customers for more sophisticated products and services, since IT is the factor that can enable individual airlines to differentiate and thus achieve competitive advantages. In conjunction with the international focus, the company decided to operate under a completely new name - the Scandinavian IT Group - to highlight its ongoing extensive and highly significant role in the SAS Group, while also targeting the vast market that the global air-travel industry comprises. "Our new name indicates that we, as a company, are prepared to live up to the requirements placed on a modern IT company whose existence and development is dependent on its competitiveness and the value its services provide to its customers," says Hans-Henrik Hedegaard, President of the Scandinavian IT Group. "The name change is intended to give a signal to our customers and to the market that the knowledge foundation of the Scandinavian IT Group is the creative and professional use of information technology to improve the competitive situation of airlines and travel companies," says Claes Broström, Chief Information Officer of SAS and Chairman of the Board of the Scandinavian IT Group.
