SAS CARGO INCREASES FREIGHT CAPACITY TO ASIA SAS Cargo has increased its freight capacity from Scandinavia to the Far East by 100 metric tons through the introduction on August 17 of a third weekly Boeing 747 all-cargo flight to Macao/Hong Kong. Macao is a strategic location for Scandinavien businesses serving the rapidly expanding markets of Southern China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The SAS Cargo route between Gothenburg and the Far East will operate via the city of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. SAS Cargo has been granted traffic rights even for Sharjah located an hour's drive by car from Dubai. For Scandinavian companies this means that three times a week they will be able to reach an area which has developed into an important trade center for the Middle East , East Africa and parts of Asia. SAS Cargo's freighter has a capacity of 100 tons/740 m3. This makes it possible to send large shipments or voluminous goods directly from Scandinavia to: Macao/Hong Kong/Southern China three times weekly with departures Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; to Osaka twice weekly with departures Wednesday and Friday; Sharjah three times weekly with departures Wednesday, Friday and Sunday Increased Boeing 767 capacity to the USA On May 30 SAS added an evening Boeing 767 flight to its timetable. Operated daily except for Monday and Wednesday the flights departs Copenhagen at 19:45 and arrives at New York/Newark at 22:15. This adds 60 tons of freight capacity per week. Through cooperation with partners, SAS Cargo can still offer all-cargo capacity for freight which the Boeing 767 can not accommodate.
