SAS onboard reading goes digital
SAS is increasing the number of digital newspapers available to download in the SAS app. A variety of national and international newspapers are available to download from the SAS Newsstand up to 22 hours before departure.
SAS offers numerous digital services to its customers before and during their trip and these services are becoming increasingly popular. Since summer 2014, a selection of newspapers has been available to download to a smartphone or tablet ahead of a trip. The choice of digital newspapers is now being increased and SAS is also partnering Readly that will enable SAS EuroBonus members to access their huge range of publications.
“SAS customers are becoming increasingly digital and we are continuously developing our app to meet their needs. This increased choice in the SAS Newsstand and our partnership with Readly means we can offer a good digital solution where customers can also access a broad range of newspapers up to 22 hours before they travel,” says Eivind Roald, Executive Vice President Commercial, SAS.
In line with the increase in digital availability, printed newspapers are disappearing from the gate. Print versions will still be available in lounges, however.
“We have chosen to invest more resources in developing digital solutions that mean you can make a far more individual choice of reading matter on board, whether this is the Financial Times or a local paper. Our digital focus is the main reason we will discontinue printed newspapers at gates. The huge volume of printed newspapers at airports is also a challenge from a logistics and environmental perspective,” adds Roald.
These changes come into force 1 March. The SAS app can be downloaded from the App Store, Google Play and Windows Phone Store.
