SAS Publishes 360,000 Books of Scandinavian Literature Scandinavian Words is the title of a collection of 18 books with classical Scandinavian literature from around the turn of the last century. The publications are the result of co-operation between SAS and the Norwegian publishing house Geelmuyden.Kiese. The six Swedish, six Danish and six Norwegian titles each contain the original Scandinavian-language version, an English translation and a preface by a leading Scandinavian writer. With the publication of the last three books this May - including the first-time release of texts by Norwegian painter and author Edward Munch - the Scandinavian Words series is complete. Each book is printed in 20,000 copies, adding up to a total of 360,000 copies counting all books. The books in the Scandinavian Words series are available in SAS Scandinavian Lounges and to business class passengers on SAS overseas flights. New books are distributed for each flight and passengers are invited to take a copy home upon landing. For this reason the books are published in a handy pocketbook format (11x15 cm) with a flexible cover making them easy to place in hand luggage or in a jacket pocket. Some 1 million passengers fly overseas on SAS Business Class routes each year. The books in the Scandinavian Words series are also available for the general public through the Internet at the address www.scandinavian.net/words. They can be ordered here and are available in packages of three books at a price of SEK/DKK/NOK 100 per package.
