SAS strengthens Copenhagen hub with new routes and expanded winter program

SAS launches its winter traffic program with major capacity growth and new destinations from Copenhagen. The schedule ensures more frequent service, smoother connections, and better overall offering for customers across Scandinavia, Europe, and beyond.

The winter program strengthens Copenhagen as a global hub, connecting Northern Europe to destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia.

We are entering the first winter season with an optimized network setup. The results are clear: higher connectivity, better schedules, and even stronger offerings for our customers across the Nordics and beyond. With new destinations, extended routes and more frequent service, we continue to build our position as the leading carrier in Northern Europe,” says Henrik Winell, Vice President Network at SAS.

The winter program features two new year-round routes – Vienna, with two daily frequencies, and Tel Aviv, flying twice weekly – alongside five new winter leisure destinations: Marrakech, Funchal, Fuerteventura, Kittilä, and Turin. The schedules are designed to connect seamlessly with SAS’ broader network across the Nordics, Europe, and intercontinental destinations.

40 percent more winter seats

Building on a strong summer expansion in 2025, 19 of the routes operated during summer will continue into winter. This includes Nordic destinations such as Billund and Turku, European cities such as Budapest, Lyon, and Krakow, and intercontinental flights to Seoul and Toronto.

With 40 percent more seats than last winter, the program enables 55 percent more connected destinations and 75 percent more transfer possibilities through Copenhagen, providing travelers with convenient same-day connections between Northern and Central Europe, as well as smoother transfers between Europe and North America or Asia.

This attractive connectivity is further supported by SAS’ industry-leading operational performance. According to statistics from Cirium, SAS ranks among Europe’s and the world’s most punctual airlines, ensuring passengers can rely on timely departures and efficient transfers throughout the network.
