-SAS was Europe’s most punctual airline this summer-

While the ‘low costs’ battle it out, SAS’s record remains far superior

(August 25,  2010) New figures show that this summer too SAS is once again Europe’s most punctual airline, after coming in as Europe’s most punctual airline in 2009 as well.  For the month of July, SAS was also the world’s most punctual airline amongst all major airlines and for May, June and July, SAS’ punctuality was superior to any other major airline in Europe.

For the three months of May to July SAS’ punctuality was consistently over 90%.  In July the airline’s punctuality was way ahead of the competition at 90.35%, while Ryanair came in at 69.18%, British Airways at 68.22% and EasyJet at 52.45% respectively.  In a summer that has been full of news of the battle between Ryanair and EasyJet’s over the  issue of punctuality, SAS, in the meantime,  has comfortably beaten their punctuality records by a huge margin.

‘It’s deeply ironic that Ryanair attacks other players over punctuality, commented Jeff Rebello spokesperson for SAS.  ‘Perhaps more time should be put towards improving their own punctuality record?  And at EasyJet they use the excuse of the aftermath of the ash cloud and air traffic control strikes as an explanation for their poor punctuality record, yet it’s not as if they were alone in dealing with these issues.  The picture is clear for anyone travelling to Scandinavia and the Nordic region and wanting to get there on time – fly with SAS.’

Current sale fares with SAS start at £61 one way including taxes from Heathrow  to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, Gothenburg and Helsinki.  SAS has no hidden charges which means the fare includes dedicated seat reservation, a generous baggage allowance of 20kgs and a 25% reduction for children between 2 and 11 years – all of which the ‘budget’ airlines would charge for.
