Travel on an air pass this summer 38 countries and 206 cities available to travelers of all ages Whatever your age, you can use an air pass to travel throughout Europe this summer. With this year's Get Around Europe air pass, 17 different airlines are collaborating to offer flights to 206 cities in 38 countries. When Get Around Europe was introduced in 1997, seven airlines combined forces to offer 131 destinations. Right from the introduction of the air pass, SAS was determined that this form of travel should be open to all ages. Cities a popular choice SAS' customer surveys have shown that it is not only young people who are eager to try Get Around Europe. "The average age last summer was 42, with nearly 60 percent traveling as couples, while about one third opted for solo travel," says Anders Burholm of SAS's marketing department in Sweden. "Traveling on an air pass is the modern way to see Europe," continues Anders Burholm. "The typical traveler is primarily interested in visiting Europe's major cities to enjoy their rich offering of cultural and leisure activities. Many people also take the opportunity to make a detour to visit relatives and friends." The most popular cities last year were Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Madrid and Paris. Here are some price examples, including taxes and airport charges: Stockholm-London-Amsterdam-Stockholm SEK 2,828 Stockholm-Nice-Luxemburg-Hamburg-Stockholm SEK 3,576 Gothenburg-London-Paris-Gothenburg SEK 2,717 Gothenburg-Paris-Madrid-(via rental car)-Barcelona- Copenhagen-Gothenburg (rental car at own expense) SEK 4,286 The price is determined by the distance traveled on each flight Travelers using the air pass in Europe must have at least two 24-hour stopovers outside the Nordic region and stay away for at least one Saturday night. Pass users are allowed to change the bookings on their ticket twice, but excluding the first leg of the journey. Get Around Europe goes on sale on May 3 and will be available for purchase up to and including August 10. Bookings must be made at least seven days prior to departure and payment must be made within three days after booking. Beginning on May 3, you can go into SAS's website at www.sas.se and use an interactive map of Europe to help you plan your trip.
