    Scania adds hybrid truck to its market leading range of vehicles for alternative fuels

    Scania has now begun a comprehensive launch of a full range of products with alternative fuels and powertrains for Euro 6. The drive is a decisive step in the company's long-term commitment to offering the widest range of sustain­able transport solutions. The highlight of the programme is a Scania-developed hybrid truck for urban distribution combining electric and biodiesel operation; other engines run on gas and biogas, biodiesel, bioethanol and HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil).     Scania to deliver 485 trucks to Austrian public sector

    The Austrian public procurement organisation Bundesbeschaffungs GmbH (BBG) and Scania Österreich have signed an agreement for the delivery of up to 485 Scania Euro 6 trucks over the next three years. The agreement is worth about EUR 65 million.The trucks will be put into use by Austrian cities, communities and other public organisations, including the Austrian motorway operator ASFINAG.     Scania is now taking a further step in its efforts to reduce the climate impact from its own operations. Using renewable bioethanol as a fuel rather than fossil-based diesel will help reduce the climate impact of carbon dioxide emissions from Scania’s own goods transport services at its production facilities in Södertälje, Sweden, by approximately 70 percent.     Scania has received an order for 158 buses from public transport company Keolis Sverige. By ordering buses that run on biofuels, the company strengthens its position in sustainable urban transport.The delivery to Keolis consists of urban, suburban and intercity buses.     Scania is delivering 85 ethanol-powered buses to Nobina, which operates on behalf of the Stockholm regional public transport company, Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL).     Scania testing unique hybrid buses in Stockholm

    To further improve the environment in the Swedish capital, Scania is now starting full-scale operational trials with six ethanol-fuelled hybrid buses. The hybrid technology will reduce fuel consumption by 25 percent. The use of ethanol will reduce net carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90 percent.
